Because I shot myself in the foot.

After yesterday's post, in which I feel I came across as telling people how to be parents. I've decided that an explanation of sorts is in order. In no way did I intend to offend anyone that read that post. I decided to share my feelings, just as everyone else uses their blogs to express to whatever they need to. I wasn't specifically speaking of anyone, and to tell you the truth it's not so much the blogging parents. I did not intend for you to think I called your children damaged goods. In fact I meant to call them the opposite of that. I was trying to express that sometimes the words sting for me, although I'm not sure why. I know they are words about a terrible disease not me or your children.
Anyway, I've decided to put my foot in my mouth.

So I present a funny SNL clip that is related to this little meme of sorts...

The Inside the Actor's Studio closing questions.

I've always wanted to answer them. So here goes.

What is your favorite word? Possibility

What is your least favorite word? The "N" word, in any of it's various spellings or uses.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? I love intelligent discussion, specifically when someone has an opposing view point from my own.

What turns you off creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Dishonesty.

What sound or noise do you love? My dogs running into my room, their little feet make this cute noise on the hardwood floor.

What sound or noise do you hate? That screeching cat sound...I hate cats (I just keep digging my hole deeper with OC people).

What is your favorite curse word? I'll admit it. I drop the F* bomb occasionally, but I'm working on eliminating that habit.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Being a mother, of course not right now though.

What profession would you not like to do? A phlebotomist, have I mentioned that I hate blood?

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Told you so.

Have a good weekend and if you've got snow/ice like we do in Maryland, stay safe!
Feel free to take this!

I'll stick my foot in my mouth too: I hate cats, also.

Shannon it's good to know I'm not the only one. I might just have to start posting pictures of my dogs.

I know! Me too, LMAO.

I, for one, tried to return Charlie to the hospital as "damaged goods," but they wouldn't take him. They used fancy words like "responsibility" and "he's your child." All of which went way over my head.

I would have gladly taken store credit.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks Carey, you always seem to know how to lighten the mood.

Jillian,

I thought you did a tremendous job articulating your feelings in yesterday's post.

Just because our perspectives differ, doesn't in any way invalidate the emotions you expressed and shared in that entry.

I (as always) admire and appreciate your honesty.

So, get that foot outta there, girl. :-)

And have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Jillian,
Yes, please put pictures of your dogs on your blog. I would love to see them. I'm a dog-person, too. Although, we do have 2 outside cats to take care of any mice. (We are surrounded by farm fields.)

Bring on those puppy pictures! :)

My dear Jillian,
Your feelings are important and listened to by all of us.
Being a parent is a "whole different story." As a parent, we hate - really, really hate - when our children are ill or suffering. It doesn't matter how old we are, our children are always our babies/children. When our first son was born and ended up in NICU, my dad was frantic and wanted desperately to DO something. My mom calmed him down and they waited.
You did NOT stick your foot in your mouth - you just articulated your feelings. And for that, you are to be commended.
And to Carey, I, too, tried to give my first one back when he had his first ear infection. They wouldn't take him!

Jillian,

Don't ever apologize for one of your posts. I certainly understand the need to "get it out" and your blog is a wonderful place to do that.

I didn't think you were calling anyone's child "damaged goods". I understood you to say that sometimes others make you feel that way. What I was trying to say is that (unlike Carey;-)I don't consider my child damaged goods. So, I hate that any of my posts might have made you feel that way.

Does that even make sense? OK, moving on.

I love cats. I'm not a dog person, but I still love you anyway.

Have a nice weekend.

Wow, I missed a lot when I had houseguests!

It's so hard to see your kids hurting, and to not be able to control what happens to them. I hate diabetes, but the fact that this disease happened to our family has brought us closer. So there's a silver lining.

Like you, Daniel doesn't think about it all the time, it certainly doesn't define him. It's just something he deals with. It's up to mom and dad to obsess about it! :)

Of course, if Daniel gets to the point where the video games truly take over his life, then he will be damaged goods!
